Beauty Abounds (one)

Original mixed media work on white extra heavy (300lb) watercolor paper with deckled edge. Created with leaves foraged from my backyard in Boulder, Colorado.
 
Size: 22.5x30" unframed
Colors: Turquoise, dark blue, blue green, and various blue shades throughout the piece as well as soft yellow and light tan.
 
Each of the Leaf Poems in this collection of works on paper started out as a cyanotype (sun print) using leaves collected from my surroundings (both in France and Boulder) and then were altered through chemical processes, watercolor, colored pencils, and chalk pastels. These paintings feel like a slice of permission to explore, play and experiment again. Working on them this summer reminded me of the feeling of freedom while coloring in a sketch book as a child—selecting just the right crayon fresh from the box. I hope they make your heart sing too.
